The Arizona Guide Right Foundation is proud to support the Phoenix Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Kappa League program.
Kappa League, formally known as the Kappa Instructional Leadership League, is the national youth initiative of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Kappa League focuses on training young men of color in the 6th-12th grade for leadership, achievement, and service in every field of human endeavor.
The goal of the Phoenix Alumni Chapter’s Kappa League program is to assist young leaders in reaching their potential. The organization is oriented towards helping students in grades 7th-12th develop their talents and potential as they prepare for college and university life. The program provides both challenging and rewarding experiences via mentor-led, oriented activities. The Kappa League members are introduced to strategizing, planning, and executing ideas that are the foundation of good leadership characteristics designed to raise awareness.
The objectives of the program is as follows:
- To inspires service in the public interest through the cultural enrichment and character development of young men between the ages of 5 and 25.
- To develop leadership skills while monitoring, encouraging and rewarding outstanding academic performance.
- To refine self-image, self-esteem, social skills, and environmental awareness.
- To assist parents in the handling of their children by giving them opportunities to discuss problems with those who know and are successful in their chosen vocations.
- To afford the less fortunate youths a respite from the challenges of street life through sponsored entertainment and cultural enrichment.
- To inform youth of the value of higher education and provide assistance with continued educational pursuits, scholarships, loans, professional counseling and fellowships.

Kappa League Program Overview
The Kappa League program is designed to aid young men in elementary through high school grow and develop leadership and educational talents in every field of study of their choice. The Kappa League program helps facilitate camaraderie, educational improvement, leadership skills and assists those in need within the greater Phoenix community.
The Kappa League program provides both challenging and rewarding experiences to enhance their lives. The program’s primary purpose is to help these young men achieve their goals and make constructive contributions to their community through leadership roles while serving as role models for other young men.
Kappa League Application
Generally, a student enrolls in Kappa League while in elementary and participates in the program until he graduates from high school.
The young men who participate in the program perform projects that expose them to planning, execution, reporting ideas, and simulating good leadership characteristics designed to raise their life aspirations. This is accomplished through the following five phases:
- Phase I – Self Identity
- Phase II – Training
- Phase III – Competition
- Phase IV – Social
- Phase V – Health Education
Parents and young men in the Phoenix metropolitan area, we are now accepting applications for the upcoming programming year. Generally, about 40 young men participate in the program each year.
